The road that brought me
here is a long and winding one, but here's the short version- I grew up
on the west coast, spent several years moving around as a naval
officer, started a career in technology, and eventually had the joy and
privilege of making Montana my home.
I've a photographer since college, where I scraped
together every penny I had to buy a Nikon 8008 and a couple of
lenses. My earliest passion was nature and wildlife
photography. I spent many weekends backpacking through the Sierra
Nevada mountains in the footprints of one of my photographic idols,
(the late) Galen Rowell. Nature photography continues to be a
love of mine for many reasons, not the least of which is that it gives
me an excuse to get out and spend time in beautiful and wonderful
places.

Over the past few years I've
begun branching out into other photographic disciplines, the most
active being performing arts and athletics. I've photographed
both local acts and major concerts like Sting and Pearl Jam, and I
regularly photograph local theater performances. On the athletic
front I've photographed University of Montana sports (football,
basketball, track) and a host of other athletic events. Recently I've
begun pursuing documentary photography as
a way to tell stories using images.
My dream is to someday be a National Geographic
photographer, an exclusive club whose members I admire deeply. I
have a long way to go, but I also have a pretty good track record for
reaching my goals. Wish me luck! ;)
I hope you enjoy my site, and if there is anything I can
do for you in the realm of photography, please don't hesitate to contact me.
